Insurance

Times have changed from years gone by, and with all of the new privacy legislations that have been implemented, insurance companies are required to deal directly with the patient when discussing benefits.

We are here to make recommendations for necessary treatment based on what is best for your health after a comprehensive and very thorough examination that includes diagnostic aids like photographs, x-rays, impressions of your teeth and a visual, intra oral examination.

Insurance companies, you may have noticed, will deny or reimburse payment of benefits to you, the patient, based on the negotiated benefits predetermined to be covered in your policy. Often even further denying some benefits that you should be eligible for, by viewing a two dimensional x-ray only.

Dental plans are not customized to the needs of the individual; but are, by their nature, arbitrary and not meant to cover anything more than a portion of your basic dental needs.

You must remember that there are dozens of insurance companies out there, and within each company, there are many variations to policies between different employers. So we must advise you that it is your responsibility alone to do whatever you need to do to contact them and follow up with them if you have any questions with respect to upcoming appointments and procedures that have been planned.
The amount of coverage varies from 0% to 100% depending on how your plan is designed. There are many arbitrary exclusions and limits built in to all plans. In spite of our efforts, we find it next to impossible to be sure what you will get back…it is very frustrating.

We will help you all we can to facilitate your claim. Most carriers will accept claims submitted electronically directly from our office at the time of your visit.

We are here to help you as much as we can, but we have no way of knowing what these companies will or will not reimburse you for. You must remember that ultimately your dental insurance is between you and the insurance carrier, and we have no way of advising you with certainty what will and will not be covered. We are here to make recommendations based on what is best for your dental health. Then it is up to you to decide how you will proceed.
